In all patterns from Athene Knitwear, you are free to choose the yarn type you prefer. The most important thing is to ensure that the yarn matches the gauge specified in the pattern. This way, you will achieve a finished result that fits the indicated measurements. However, if you choose a different yarn from the original, the final result may have a slightly different finish depending on the yarn’s properties.

For The Chunky Sweater, the gauge is 10 stitches x 18 rows on 9 mm needles in stockinette stitch = 10 cm x 10 cm.

The pattern is available in the following sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL.

Below you will find an overview of our recommendations for possible yarn alternatives for The Chunky Sweater.

Amount:

  • 340 (340-408) 408 (408) 408-476 (408-476) 408-476 (476) 476 g Snefnug.

2nd alternative:

Note: This is only an alternative to replace Drops Melody in the pattern, so you should still knit with either 1 strand of Air from Drops or a yarn that replaces this type.

Materials: 1 strand of Mohrino from Viking Garn (50 g = 100 m).

Amount:

  • 350 (350-420) 420 (420) 420-490 (420-490) 420-490 (490) 490 g Mohrino.
